DART encourages commuters to grab their bike and ride to work as part of national Bike to Work Day, May 15. On your way to the office, stop by one of eight energizer stations set up by DART, where volunteers are eager to provide information from local area bike shop partners, free bike tune-ups, treats, promotional items and tips on safety from 7 to 9:30 a.m.
Also this week, ride DART to: a free concert by Dallas' own Los Morales Boyz in the Fair Park Exposition Plaza; Dallas Black Dance Theatre's Spring Celebration, the final performance of their 38th season with classic and contemporary works that push boundaries; Fork & Cork in Addison, a unique and innovative destination that introduces the culinary minded to local celebrated chefs, assorted breweries, wineries and spirit makers; Wildflower! Arts & Music Festival, an award-winning, multi-day eclectic arts and music festival at Galatyn Park; Late Nights at the Dallas Museum of Art, featuring new contemporary art performances and installations by artists Kevin Beasley, Jon Rafman, and The Color Condition; the 10th Annual Strut Your Mutt Walk in Trinity Groves; the Dallas Outdoor Music and Art Festival at the Trinity River Corridor, a new festival debuting in Trinity Groves; The Marketplace in Historic Downtown Garland, a great opportunity to support local artisans, craftsman, growers, and merchants; Univision's Festival de Mayo at Fair Park, a free event featuring live entertainment, food vendors and more; the DFW Dragon Boat, Kite and Lantern Festival on Lake Carolyn in the Las Colinas Urban Center, featuring cultural performances, an international costumes parade, interactive activities and more; Uptown Ciclovía, a one-mile, car-free route that turns major city streets into safe and open, car-free environments for families to run, bike, play and be well together; or St. Vincent in performance with musicians from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Annette Strauss Square, part of the inaugural SOLUNA: International Music & Arts Festival.
In Fort Worth: Ride the TRE and The T's bus route 2, 7 or 57 to the Collection of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass, a selection of Impressionist to postWorld War II paintings and sculptures in the Renzo Piano Pavilion at the Kimbell Art Museum. Note: there is no TRE service on Sundays.
In Denton: Ride DART and the DCTA A-train to the Saturday morning Denton Community Market located at Carroll Blvd. and Mulberry St.
