The 2014 State Fair of Texas® opens on Friday, September 26 and runs through Sunday, October 19. New this year, purchase your DART transit passes and State Fair of Texas general admission tickets all within DART's GoPass app and save $2 versus buying at the gate. The fair kicks off with the annual Opening Day Parade downtown Friday at noon. At the fair this year is Canstruction®, a competition where teams of architects, engineers and students design and build giant structures made entirely out of canned foods, which are then displayed as magnificent sculpture exhibits. The exhibit will be held in the Science Place building and will be on display daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. On Saturday, September 27, the Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic football game kicks off at 4 p.m. Since the 1980's, the Grambling Tigers and Prairie View A & M Panthers have traveled to Dallas during the State Fair to go head-to-head on the grass of Cotton Bowl Stadium.
